With my passion for the outdoors, I started taking a canoe trip with my friend Julia from Giner, and she tried to push me to do a kayak trip instead. Because of my long skinny limbs, I told her to take me on a kayak trip first, then kayak alone. They did a kayak trip in Giner and I was so happy because it was my first time kayaking alone. I also wasn’t nervous or afraid. I loved every part of kayaking. I liked the kayaking activity and the best part was that it was my first kayaking adventure alone. It felt really nice to just be in the kayak, no worries of being alone, not being in the public way while kayaking, it felt really relaxing. For a woman who likes taking paragliding in the forest, for a camper to kayak alone in the wild, for a daredevil kayaker in the sea, it wasn’t common for me to do kayaking alone. Even if I had no disability, I was still nervous of Kayaking alone. Especially kayaking alone in a bigger river that has its own levels that change each day. Although I grew to love kayaking, I remember seeing photos from kayaking, the pictures used to be mostly of people kayaking kayaks on the same river. Sometimes it happens that I see the same image everywhere, especially by people in the village. I wanted to say thank you to everybody who takes part in kayaking. It’s hard, hard work, but there is a reward for your hard work. Kayaking also gives you a sense of freedom. I would go to the river and make a mess of my boat without drinking. I didn’t have to do that again, and it was fun! But I also enjoyed having people around. In a two day kayaking trip, not everyone who took part has a small group. It’s not only the difficulty, but also the feeling of being in a group. I’m very open to new experiences and if I get them, I love them and am very thankful. Another strong part of kayaking is that it’s really fun. There is something about kayaking that creates a good team atmosphere. Some times it’s really difficult and it feels really good that there are so many people with different abilities, who all try their best to help me. As soon as we reach the kayak-hole, we all have to be on time and have the kayak ready at the end of the kayak-hole. When you’re almost at the kayak-hole, you get really excited about it. I enjoyed every moment of kayaking, that’s why I really want to experience it again. I enjoyed kayaking as much as Julia when we kayaked alone in the river, because everyone has their own atmosphere. I tried some parasailing and one of the guys told me to go kayaking. They say kayaking is like parachuting because when kayaking, you have to take care of yourself, so you have to lift yourself. Before I get ready for the kayak, I’m about as excited as a kid, he just asked me if I wanted to go kayaking with him. I said yes, so he was really happy to help. For me, taking part in kayaking has not only given me a great experience, but also given me the feelings of happiness and freedom. I hope you know that being kayaked alone will make your life even better.
